Christmas Poem 2009 by Ralph H. Hill Jr.

This Christmas there is a new generation,
New family members of this great nation.
A great-grand-daughter for Mary Hill
And a great-grand-niece for Uncle Bill.

The new little baby's name is Katelyn
With Kristi and Lex, her proud next-of-kin.
She was born on her grandma's birthday,
It won’t be long until she can run and play.

On "January One of the next decade,
There will be a big New Year's parade,
A few weeks later, the Fleharty clan,
Will surely be blessed with a new, little man.

These great-grand kids will all soon be,
Old enough to enjoy a pretty Christmas tree.
From out of town they both will come,
To show the relatives who they've become.

New traditions will be derived anew
From those started on Mt. Vernon Avenue.
Stockings by the tree, and presents galore,
Along with fond memories from days of yore.

Some I remember include: a Lionel train,
A bicycle, and even toys for the brain,
Such as a chemistry set, full of test tubes,
And chemicals and crystals shaped like cubes.

Most photos of those days cannot be found,
But the fond memories of them still abound.
As Bob Hope always used to say...
"Thanks for the memories" for that Christmas day!
